Evinrude’s Tracy Crocker to head newly created BRP Marine Group Valcourt, Quebec-based BRP has signed a deal to acquire St Peter, Minnesota-based aluminium fishing boat manufacturer Alumacraft Boats and announced plans to create a new marine group. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. “This acquisition is a natural first step for our newly formed Marine Group,” said José Boisjoli, BRP president and CEO. “In the short term, we plan to focus on network optimisation to leverage the strengths of both product lines and gradually reinforce our presence in the industry. Along with our recognised approach to innovation and design expertise, we hope to eventually transform this industry and do for the marine business what we have done for the powersports business.” Alumacraft will operate as an independent company alongside BRP’s Evinrude engine brand as part of the newly-created BRP Marine Group. Tracy Crocker, Evinrude senior vice-president and general manager, has been named Group president and will assume responsibility for its strategic direction and operations while maintaining his existing role at Evinrude. “This is an opportunity for BRP and is the first step of many towards our goal to become a leading marine company,” said Crocker. “The formation of BRP Marine Group with two iconic marine industry players in Evinrude and Alumacraft will open up a world of possibilities for us within the marine industry. Our key objective is to provide high quality, innovative opportunities that help families create unforgettable memories on the water.”
